ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a medicine called dexamethasone palmitate to see if it can help prevent nausea and vomiting after patients have open surgery. Even though dexamethasone is commonly used for this purpose, some patients still experience nausea and vomiting after their surgery. Dexamethasone palmitate is thought to work better and last longer than regular dexamethasone, with fewer side effects. The goal of this trial is to find out how effective and safe dexamethasone palmitate is when given before surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 65 years old and scheduled for elective open surgery, like spinal, chest, or abdominal surgery, under general anesthesia. You also need to give your written consent to join. However, if you have certain health conditions, such as allergies to dexamethasone, severe heart or kidney problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you won't be able to take part. Participants can expect close monitoring during the trial to ensure their safety and to see how well the medication works. This trial is not recruiting participants yet, but it will be an important step in potentially improving care for patients experiencing nausea and vomiting after surgery.
