ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Prehabilitation for Aortic Aneurysm Surgery," is designed to see if a special program called the Ready for Recovery can help people get ready for surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm. An aortic aneurysm is a condition where a part of the aorta, the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart, becomes weakened and bulges. The trial will last for six weeks and aims to find out if this program is helpful, easy to accept, and effective for those preparing for surgery.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be adults aged 65 to 74 who are scheduled for elective surgery to fix their aortic aneurysm. However, people who have cognitive disturbances, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant before the surgery, or cannot communicate fluently in English will not be eligible. Those who join the trial can expect to take part in a supportive program that focuses on preparing them physically and mentally for their upcoming surgery. This could be an important step in improving recovery and overall health outcomes after the operation.
