ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a type of medication called alpha blockers on patients who are receiving spinal anesthesia for urological surgery. Alpha blockers are often prescribed to older adults to help with urinary problems, but they can cause low blood pressure, especially when combined with spinal anesthesia. The researchers want to find out how patients who take alpha blockers experience changes in their blood pressure during surgery compared to those who do not take these medications.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for elective (planned) urological surgery that will use spinal anesthesia. You should be in generally good health, classified as ASA physical status I, II, or III, which means you have a mild to moderate health condition. However, if you have a heart condition, a history of brain or spinal cord issues, or you are using other medications that affect blood flow, you will not be eligible for this trial. If you join the study, you can expect to be monitored closely during your surgery to see how your blood pressure responds. Your participation could help doctors better understand how to manage anesthesia in patients taking alpha blockers.
