ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new support program for pregnant and postpartum women living with HIV in Kenya. The program, called the Enhanced Mentor Mother Strategy, aims to help these women get better care and support while they receive treatment to prevent the transmission of HIV to their babies. The researchers want to see if this new approach can improve health outcomes, such as keeping mothers in care, reducing the virus in their blood, and ensuring that infants receive necessary HIV testing.
To participate in the trial, women need to be at least 18 years old, pregnant or recently given birth, and enrolled in the prevention program at Burnt Forest Sub-District Hospital. During their regular clinic visits, they will meet with a Mentor Mother who will offer additional support. Women can choose to receive this enhanced support or stick with the standard care they would usually get. The study is currently recruiting participants and aims to understand if the new strategy is acceptable and beneficial for both mothers and their infants.
