ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how surgery for oral cancer affects a person's ability to swallow. Researchers want to understand the changes in swallowing function, the condition of the muscles involved in swallowing, and overall nutrition in patients before they have surgery and at different times afterward—specifically one month and then again from three months to a year post-surgery.
To be eligible for this study, patients need to be between 65 and 74 years old and must be scheduled for surgery to remove oral cancer. Unfortunately, those who cannot participate in the examinations due to other issues will not be included. If someone joins the study, they can expect to undergo assessments that will help the researchers learn more about how oral cancer surgery impacts swallowing and nutrition, which could ultimately improve care for future patients.
