ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the condition of the paraspinal muscles (the muscles next to the spine) before surgery affects the success of lumbar spine fusion surgeries in patients with degenerative lumbar spine diseases. The main question the researchers want to answer is whether having weak or atrophied paraspinal muscles makes the outcomes of these surgeries worse. To gather information, participants will be asked to complete surveys about their low back pain and daily activities over the course of one year after surgery.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have degenerative lumbar spine diseases that require lumbar spinal fusion surgery. However, those who have had previous back surgeries, have certain serious conditions like fractures or infections, or have other uncontrolled health issues will not be included. Since this study is not yet recruiting, interested individuals should keep an eye out for when it begins, as it could provide valuable information about recovery from spine surgery.
