ClinConnect Summary
The Mississippi Delta Community Care Home Visits Program is a research study aimed at improving the health of new mothers in the Mississippi Delta region, where there are higher rates of serious health issues related to pregnancy and childbirth, especially among Black women. This study seeks to understand how better communication and support can help these mothers feel more engaged and trusted in their postpartum healthcare. By working closely with the local community, the program hopes to find effective ways to reduce preventable health problems and promote fairness in maternal health care.
To participate in this study, mothers who have recently given birth and are identified as having a high-risk pregnancy may be eligible if they live in one of five specific counties: Washington, Bolivar, Scott, Humphreys, or Carroll. Participants should be between the ages of 18 and 45. The study is not currently recruiting participants, but once it begins, those involved can expect to take part in activities designed to improve their health and the health of their families through home visits and community support. This is an important step towards addressing the serious health challenges faced by mothers in this region.
