ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain nutritional markers measured before surgery can help predict how well patients do after undergoing a weight-loss surgery called laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. The study aims to find out if these markers can indicate how quickly patients can start eating again, how soon they can move around, and if they might face any complications or need to stay in the hospital longer.
To participate in this study, you would need to be between the ages of 18 and 65, have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher, and be scheduled for the weight-loss surgery. You also need to have complete pre-surgery lab results and agree to participate by signing a consent form. Unfortunately, if you have serious liver or kidney issues, an active infection, or have had certain treatments for blood cancers, you wouldn't be eligible. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help improve outcomes for future patients undergoing this type of surgery by understanding the role of nutrition beforehand.
