ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether listening to music can help reduce anxiety in older patients who are about to have surgery for femoral fractures, which are breaks in the thigh bone. Preoperative anxiety can make recovery harder and increase pain, so researchers want to see if music therapy can make a positive difference. In the study, 154 adult patients will be randomly chosen to either enjoy a 20-minute music session or receive standard care before their surgery. Their levels of anxiety and pain will be measured before and after the music therapy to see if it has any effect.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be 18 years old or older and have a femur fracture that requires surgery. They must also be able to understand and agree to participate in the study. However, those with hearing loss, certain cognitive or mental health issues, or those needing emergency surgery will not be eligible. This study aims to gather important information about a simple and safe way to help manage anxiety for patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, potentially improving their overall experience and recovery.
