ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a method called supraclavicular brachial plexus block to help reduce the need for opioids in children who are having a specific surgery called arteriovenous fistula creation. This surgery is often needed for patients who require dialysis, and the goal of the study is to see if this technique can provide effective pain relief while using fewer strong pain medications like opioids.
To participate in this trial, children between the ages of 6 and 18 who are in good health (as defined by a specific medical rating) and are scheduled for this surgery under general anesthesia may be eligible. However, children with allergies to local anesthetics, infections at the surgery site, or certain medical conditions won't be able to join. If your child is selected, they can expect to receive the supraclavicular block as part of their pain management during the surgery, which could help them feel more comfortable while reducing the potential side effects of opioids.
