ClinConnect Summary
The VIRTUALR study is looking at how virtual reality (VR) combined with hypnosis can help reduce anxiety in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, which involves procedures on the arms or legs. In this study, participants will be randomly placed into two groups: one group will use VR during their surgery, while the other group will not use the VR device. Researchers will then compare how anxious each group feels and how satisfied they are with their experience through questionnaires.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be 18 years or older and require regional anesthesia for a scheduled orthopedic surgery. They must also be connected to a social security system and able to provide informed consent. However, those with certain conditions, like psychiatric disorders or communication issues, or who need emergency surgery, will not be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to help researchers learn more about the benefits of using virtual reality to make surgical experiences less stressful for patients.
