ClinConnect Summary
The Oswestry Metabolic BONE Cohort is a clinical trial aimed at better understanding osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures, especially in older adults. The study will look at various factors that affect bone health, including not only bone density but also other health conditions like obesity, diabetes, and muscle strength. By gathering data on these factors, researchers hope to improve how we predict fracture risks and develop better treatment strategies for patients.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be postmenopausal women or men over 50 years old who have experienced a fragility fracture in the past two years. This includes fractures in areas like the spine, hip, or wrist. Participants should have a bone density measurement taken between 2025 and 2035 and should not currently be on anti-osteoporosis medication. While the trial is not yet recruiting, it represents an important step in advancing our understanding of osteoporosis and how to prevent fractures in those at risk. If you join the study, you can expect to contribute to valuable research that may benefit many others facing similar health challenges.
