ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a new test called Neutrophil Gelatinase-associated Lipocalin (NGAL) can help detect kidney problems in pregnant women with a condition called preeclampsia who are having a cesarean section. Preeclampsia can lead to complications like acute kidney injury (AKI) after surgery, especially if blood pressure drops significantly. The researchers want to see if measuring NGAL, along with standard kidney tests, can provide earlier warnings about kidney issues compared to traditional methods that only show problems after a lot of kidney function has already been lost.
To participate in this study, women must be between 18 and 45 years old, diagnosed with preeclampsia, and scheduled for an elective cesarean section. Those with certain health issues or who are unable to understand the study details will not be included. If you decide to join, you will have your kidney function tested before and a few hours after your surgery, allowing researchers to compare results between women who experience low blood pressure during surgery and those who do not. This study aims to improve how we monitor and manage kidney health in pregnant women undergoing surgery.
