ClinConnect Summary

The Monitoring Arm Recovery After Stroke (MARS) trial is studying how to better track the recovery of arm movement in people who have had a stroke. Many stroke survivors find it challenging to regain full movement in their arms, and this trial aims to test a new phone app that can measure arm movements using the phone's camera. By comparing the app's measurements with those taken in a laboratory, researchers hope to see if the app is an accurate tool for understanding how well someone is recovering. This information could help doctors choose the best treatments for their patients.

To participate in this trial, you should be a stroke survivor with some arm impairment, as indicated by a specific test. They are looking for twelve participants aged 65 to 74 who can sit independently and understand the study. During the session, which will last 2-3 hours at King's College London, participants will wear a tight-fitting vest, have small markers placed on their arms, and perform simple movements like drinking from a cup while being recorded. This trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help improve recovery methods by providing better feedback for home exercises in the future.
