ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how common diabetes and prediabetes are in patients who are getting ready for lumbar spine surgery, which is surgery on the lower back. The goal is to find out how many patients in this group have these conditions, as diabetes can affect recovery and overall health.
To participate in the study, you need to be an adult between the ages of 65 and 74 who is planning to have their first lumbar spine surgery. You should also be okay with the researchers using your medical information for this study. However, if you have had certain types of spinal surgery in the past or if your surgery is for an infection or tumor, you won't be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo screening for diabetes or prediabetes as part of the process. This research could help improve care for future patients undergoing similar surgeries.
