ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help patients with jaw joint disorders, known as Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD). The researchers want to see if an art-based tool can improve how patients express and understand their pain. In this study, participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive standard care for their condition, while the other will use the art-based tool, which involves discussing their pain through guided conversations about chosen paintings. The goal is to determine if this method helps patients communicate their pain better, improves jaw function, and reduces anxiety more than standard care alone.
To participate, you need to be at least 18 years old and have early-stage TMD that doesn’t require surgery. If you qualify, you will fill out questionnaires about your pain and anxiety before and after two weeks, undergo a clinical exam, and, if in the intervention group, discuss your pain using artwork. There is no cost to join, and your medical information will be kept confidential. If you feel uncomfortable at any time during the study, support will be available. The trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you think you might qualify, this could be a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of your pain and improve your communication with healthcare providers.
