ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the body processes food and nutrients in adults with obesity, specifically those who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher. The study involves 8 participants who will take part in two different ways of consuming drinks that contain special markers called stable isotopes. In the first part, participants will drink six drinks spread out over six hours, while in the second part, they will have one drink with a specific amount of glucose. Throughout the study, researchers will collect blood, breath, urine, and muscle samples to see how the body reacts.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between the ages of 19 and 59, have a BMI of 30 or greater, and meet certain waist size measurements (102 cm for men and 88 cm for women). They should also not be very active, as indicated by a specific exercise questionnaire. People who are pregnant, smokers, physically active, or have certain health conditions will not be included. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it offers a chance to contribute to our understanding of metabolism in those who are obese.
