ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new type of dietary supplement specifically designed for patients who are undergoing weight-loss surgeries, like gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. These surgeries can lead to vitamin deficiencies because they change how the body absorbs nutrients. The trial compares these specialized bariatric supplements to standard multivitamins to see which is more effective in preventing vitamin deficiencies after surgery. It's important because many patients who have these surgeries need more nutrients than what regular vitamins provide.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult between 18 and 65 years old who is scheduled for one of the weight-loss surgeries mentioned. You should be able to give informed consent and agree to follow the study for a year. However, if you have certain health issues that affect how your body absorbs nutrients, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study, or have had previous gastrointestinal surgeries, you won't be eligible. If you join, you can expect to receive either the new supplements or standard multivitamins and will be monitored for changes in your vitamin levels over the year. This trial aims to ensure that patients get the right nutrients to support their recovery and health after surgery.
