ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different methods of providing pain relief after a specific type of surgery called thoracotomy, which is performed on the chest. The main goal is to see which method works better for reducing pain after the surgery: the thoracic paravertebral block or the erector spinae plane block. Researchers will also check how these methods affect patients' sedation levels, any complications that might arise, how much pain medication is needed afterward, and overall patient satisfaction with the pain management.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 18 and 65 years old and are scheduled to have a thoracotomy. They should also have a low to moderate risk for health issues, as indicated by their health classification. However, those who have certain health conditions, like infections in the treatment area, severe obesity, or a history of chronic pain, will not be included. If you decide to participate, you'll receive one of the two pain relief methods after your surgery, and the team will monitor your recovery closely.
