ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to treat pilonidal sinus disease, a common condition that causes painful sores near the tailbone, mostly affecting young adults. The study compares two treatments: laser therapy alone versus laser therapy combined with a special chemical called phenol. Both treatments are done in a simple outpatient procedure using local anesthesia, meaning you won’t be put to sleep. The goal is to see if adding phenol helps wounds heal faster, reduces pain, and allows people to get back to their daily activities more quickly.
Adults aged 18 and older with a straightforward case of pilonidal sinus (meaning three or fewer small openings or “pits”) may be eligible to join. People with more complicated conditions, ongoing infections, or who have had previous pilonidal surgery are not eligible. If you join, you will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups and followed for three months to track healing, pain, and quality of life. This study hopes to find better ways to treat pilonidal sinus disease, helping patients recover faster and feel more comfortable.
