ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help people with opioid use disorder (OUD) stay on a medicine called buprenorphine, which helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The study focuses on patients who start buprenorphine treatment in a hospital emergency room and then need follow-up care after they leave. Researchers want to see if using a special set of strategies to better connect emergency care with ongoing outpatient treatment can help people keep taking their medicine consistently for longer periods—especially over the first 6 months, which is the main focus.
People who might be eligible for this study are adults who begin buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder in an emergency department that is part of the study. However, if someone already has an active buprenorphine prescription just before their emergency visit, they would not be included. Participants can expect that the trial will look at how well the emergency and outpatient care teams work together to support their treatment, and the researchers will track how long they stay on buprenorphine over time. The goal is to improve care coordination so patients get better support and have a smoother transition from emergency care to ongoing treatment. This study is not yet recruiting participants.
