ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying certain substances found in saliva to see if they can help identify gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is when the gums become inflamed or swollen, and if it’s not treated, it can lead to periodontitis, a more serious condition that damages the tissues supporting your teeth. The researchers are measuring three specific markers in saliva—called HIF-2 alpha, MMP-9, and TRAP-5b—that are linked to inflammation and bone loss. By comparing these markers in healthy people, those with gingivitis, and those with periodontitis, the study aims to find out if these saliva tests can be a useful and simple way to diagnose gum disease and better understand how it develops.
People who are generally healthy, non-smokers, between 18 and 70 years old, have at least 20 permanent teeth, and have not used antibiotics or had gum treatment in the last six months may be eligible to join. Participants will be asked to provide saliva samples and have their gum health checked. This study does not involve any medication or treatment, so it’s mainly about collecting information to improve future diagnosis and care for gum diseases. If you meet the criteria and are interested, this could be a chance to help researchers learn more about gum health in a simple and non-invasive way.
