ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a substance in the blood called endocan in patients who come to the emergency room with acute diverticulitis, which is an inflammation or infection in small pouches that can form in the colon. The researchers want to see if the levels of endocan in the blood relate to how severe the diverticulitis is and whether higher levels might indicate a need for emergency surgery.
To take part, patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of acute diverticulitis based on a doctor’s exam and imaging tests like an ultrasound or CT scan. People who are immunosuppressed, have ongoing inflammatory diseases, serious heart, kidney, or liver problems, cancer, a history of major vascular surgery, or are pregnant will not be eligible. Participants will have blood samples taken to measure endocan levels, and the study will look at how these levels connect to their condition’s severity and treatment needs. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help doctors better understand and manage diverticulitis in the future.
