ClinConnect Summary

This study is looking at how artificial intelligence (AI) might help dentists make decisions when detecting and treating cavities (tooth decay). Dentists in the Netherlands will be split into two groups: one group will look at dental X-rays with the help of AI, and the other group will review the same X-rays without AI support. After a month break, they will switch and review the X-rays again but under the opposite condition. The goal is to see if AI changes how dentists decide on the best treatment plans after spotting cavities.

To take part, dentists need to be currently practicing in the Netherlands and have at least three years of experience. Dentists who are retired or specialists like orthodontists or oral surgeons, whose work doesn’t usually involve routine cavity checks and treatment planning, won’t be eligible. Participants will review X-rays, make treatment decisions, and then repeat the process later to compare their choices with and without AI. This study hasn’t started recruiting yet, but it aims to better understand how AI tools might support dentists in their everyday work.
