ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two types of airway devices called the I-gel and the classic Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA), which help keep the airway open during surgery when patients are under general anesthesia. The study focuses on elderly patients over 70 years old who are having planned urological surgeries. Researchers want to find out which device works better and how the position of the patient’s head affects the ease and success of placing these devices.
If you are over 70 years old, generally healthy (with certain health classifications called ASA I-III), and do not have any known airway problems or reasons why these devices can’t be used, you might be able to take part. Participants will be randomly assigned to have one of the two devices inserted while their head is either in a normal position or turned to the side. The study will look at how quickly and easily the device can be placed, how well it works to keep the airway open, and any side effects or complications. This information will help doctors better manage airways in older patients during surgery. The trial has not started recruiting yet.
