Tooth Bleaching Cannabidiol Dentin Sensitivity

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether a new gel made with cannabidiol (CBD) oil can help reduce tooth sensitivity caused by teeth whitening treatments. When teeth are whitened using a strong bleaching agent, some people experience discomfort or pain. This study will compare the experimental CBD gel to a placebo gel (which has no active ingredient) and a commonly used gel that contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, both known to help with sensitivity. Volunteers will have one of these gels applied to their teeth for 10 minutes before undergoing a professional teeth whitening treatment. Afterward, participants will record how sensitive their teeth feel each day for three weeks.

To take part, volunteers need to be in good overall and oral health and have at least 28 natural teeth. People with active cavities, gum disease, cracks, or certain dental problems won’t be eligible, nor will smokers, pregnant or breastfeeding women. During the study, participants will be asked to rate their tooth sensitivity using a simple pain scale and answer questions about their experience after each whitening session. This trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to find out if the CBD gel can be a helpful option for people who want to whiten their teeth without discomfort.
