ClinConnect Summary
This study, called the CMR UNCONCEALED Study, is watching for how often a hidden tear in the heart muscle (concealed myocardial rupture) happens in people who have had a heart attack and then develop inflammation around the heart (early infarct-associated pericarditis). It’s an observational study, meaning researchers simply observe and collect information rather than testing a new drug. Participants will have a post-heart-attack cardiac MRI to help diagnose and guide treatment, and the main goal is to measure the number of people who experience a myocardial rupture within 12 months.
About 50 people of any gender and all ages who had a STEMI (a type of heart attack) and a clinical diagnosis of early infarct-associated pericarditis may be invited to join. The study is being conducted at Università di Pisa in Pisa, Italy. If you participate, you would receive a cardiac MRI as part of the study and be followed for up to one year to see whether a concealed rupture occurs. This study does not involve a new drug or therapy; it focuses on using MRI to better understand and manage this condition.
