ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether giving patients clear instructions and education before a special heart scan called an 18F-FDG PET can improve the quality of the images. This scan helps doctors find inflammation (swelling or irritation) in the heart caused by conditions like infective endocarditis or cardiac sarcoidosis. For the scan to work well, patients need to prepare by following a specific diet so their heart muscle doesn’t absorb sugar from food, which can make the images harder to read. The study wants to see if better patient preparation can help doctors get clearer results, which could lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses.

Adults aged 18 and older who have been prescribed this heart scan and understand French may be eligible to join, as long as they are not pregnant, already on a special diet, or unable to follow the study’s instructions. Participants will be asked to follow the education and preparation plan before their scan, and the researchers will compare the quality of their images to those who did not receive this extra guidance. The study will take place at two hospitals in Paris and aims to include 138 people. If you’re considering taking part, you should know that giving your consent and having an email address are required, and the study focuses on helping improve the scan process for future patients.
