ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special exercise program called the modified Poco-Poco exercise might help older adults with sarcopenia—a condition where muscle strength and mass decrease with age. The researchers want to see if this exercise can improve tongue strength, thinking skills (cognitive function), and overall quality of life for participants. The study is not yet open for enrollment.
To join the trial, participants need to be 60 years or older, have sarcopenia as diagnosed by specific guidelines, have a certain level of thinking ability (measured by a simple test called MoCA), and have weaker tongue strength. People with hearing or vision problems that make it hard to follow instructions, severe joint or heart problems, or those currently involved in another exercise program will not be eligible. If accepted, participants will take part in the modified Poco-Poco exercise and have their progress monitored for changes in tongue strength, mental abilities, and how they feel overall. This study aims to find gentle, effective ways to support muscle and brain health in older adults.
