ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how wearable technology, like an Apple Watch, can help doctors detect early signs of infection in children and young people undergoing cancer treatment. The goal is to use information collected from these devices to create a model that predicts when a patient might develop an infection, so that care can be improved and risks reduced during their treatment.
Children and young adults between the ages of 5 and 18 who are receiving cancer treatment at The Royal Children's Hospital and are at risk of infection may be eligible to participate. To join, patients (or their parents/guardians if under 16) need to be willing to wear an Apple Watch during their waking hours for about four weeks and have an iPhone 8 or newer with enough storage to run a special app for collecting health data. Participants will be asked to share their data through this app, which is managed by the research team. The study is currently not yet recruiting, but if you meet these criteria and are interested, this trial could offer a way to help improve infection monitoring during cancer therapy.
