ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how anxiety and pain affect women undergoing two common procedures: inserting an intrauterine device (IUD) for birth control and taking a small sample of the lining of the uterus (called an endometrial biopsy). The study will compare how much pain and anxiety women feel when they receive pain relief medicine before the procedure versus when they don’t. Researchers also want to understand how factors like age, race, number of previous births, type of IUD, and anxiety levels might influence pain during these procedures. The goal is to find better ways to manage pain and anxiety for women having these treatments.
Women who are 18 to 74 years old and are scheduled for either an IUD insertion or an endometrial biopsy may be eligible to join the study. However, women who have certain health problems like pelvic infections, cancer, pregnancy, or allergies to the pain relief medicines used in the study will not be able to participate. If you join, you can expect to receive either pain relief medication or no medication before your procedure, and the doctors will ask you about your anxiety and pain levels. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but if you are interested, you can talk to your doctor about whether this trial might be right for you.
