ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how certain blood cells and clots (called thrombi) are involved in strokes caused by blockages in large blood vessels in the brain. Researchers will collect and examine blood and clot samples from patients who are undergoing a procedure called mechanical thrombectomy, which is used to remove these blockages. The goal is to better understand how these clots form and behave, why some strokes don’t respond well to current medicines, and to find new ways to treat or prevent strokes in the future.

Adults aged 18 and older who come to the hospital with symptoms of a stroke or related risk factors—such as irregular heartbeat, infections, or narrowing of neck arteries—and who are receiving treatments like clot-removal procedures or clot-busting medicines may be eligible to join. Participants will be asked for consent to use their blood and clot samples for research, either directly or through approved procedures if they are unconscious. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain autoimmune diseases won’t be able to take part. This study is not yet recruiting patients but aims to help improve stroke care by learning more about the causes and treatment of these serious events.
