ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether a home-based program designed to prepare patients before heart surgery can be practical and helpful. Specifically, it focuses on people with heart disease who are waiting for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, a procedure that improves blood flow to the heart. The program, called prehabilitation, includes exercises, nutrition advice, and psychological support to help patients become stronger and better prepared for surgery. The study wants to see if patients can follow this program successfully before their operation and if it’s possible to run a larger trial in the future.
People who might be eligible are adults scheduled for their first planned CABG surgery, who have at least two weeks before the surgery date, speak Danish, and can provide consent. The study excludes those with recent serious heart problems, severe heart failure, certain physical or cognitive issues that would make the program unsafe or difficult, and those unable to participate in exercise. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the prehabilitation program along with usual care or just the usual care alone. The researchers will track how many people join and stay in the study, how well they follow the program, and whether the program can be delivered as planned. This trial is not yet recruiting but aims to improve recovery after heart surgery by using the time before surgery to help patients get stronger.
