ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how the gender of the anesthesiologist (the doctor who manages pain and consciousness during surgery) and whether the patient and anesthesiologist share the same gender affect pain levels and pain medication needs after breast cancer surgery (mastectomy). The study also looks at how these factors might influence any complications during and after the surgery. The goal is to better understand if matching patient and anesthesiologist gender, along with the type of pain relief used, can improve recovery and comfort after surgery.

Women aged 18 or older who have breast cancer and are scheduled for a planned mastectomy may be eligible to join this study. Participants need to be in generally stable health and able to provide complete medical information before and after surgery. Emergency surgeries or other major procedures at the same time would exclude someone from participating. If you join, your care team will observe and record your pain levels and any complications related to anesthesia, helping doctors learn how to provide better pain relief and care tailored to each patient.
