ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how adult men who have committed sexual offenses against young children understand the idea of consent—meaning permission for sexual activity—based on their own experiences. Researchers want to learn how these men think about consent, what situations or beliefs influence their views, and how they perceive whether a child can agree to such acts. Understanding this could help improve prevention and treatment efforts to stop these crimes from happening again.
The study is open to adult men who have been convicted of sexual offenses against prepubescent children and are currently receiving support at a specific center (CRIAVS-LR). People with certain mental health conditions, like dementia or severe psychiatric disorders, cannot take part. Participants will be asked about their thoughts and experiences regarding consent, helping researchers better understand the factors behind these offenses. This information may lead to better ways to prevent abuse and support both victims and offenders in the future.
