ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at whether a specific type of pain relief called the quadratus lumborum (QL) block can help reduce the chance of developing long-term nerve pain after a kidney donation surgery done through a small incision in the back (called retroperitoneal laparoscopic donor nephrectomy). The researchers want to see if using this pain block during surgery can lower the risk of chronic neuropathic pain, which is a type of nerve pain that can last for months after surgery.

People who may join this study are adults between 18 and 65 years old who are planning to donate a kidney and are generally healthy enough for surgery. They should not have a history of ongoing pain conditions or previous kidney donation surgeries. If they participate, they will receive either the QL block or a standard pain control during their kidney donation procedure, and the researchers will check in on them for at least three months afterward to see how their pain is doing. This study is not yet recruiting participants but aims to help improve pain care for future kidney donors.
