ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a surgical procedure that changes a previous type of weight loss surgery called gastric bypass into another type called sleeve gastrectomy. This is being explored because some people who have had gastric bypass experience ongoing problems like severe digestive issues, weight regain, or nutritional deficiencies that affect their quality of life. Instead of reversing the surgery completely, which many avoid due to fear of gaining weight again, this trial looks at a “conversion” surgery as an alternative to help manage these issues while still supporting weight loss.
Adults between 18 and 70 years old who need this specific conversion surgery and agree to participate are eligible to join the study. During the trial, participants will undergo the surgery using a laparoscopic (small incision) stapling technique and will be followed afterward to see how well the procedure works and whether there are any complications. This study is important because this kind of surgery is complex and not done very often, so researchers want to better understand its safety and long-term results to help people with difficult complications from gastric bypass.
