ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying ways to help people who use anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS)—drugs often used to build muscle or improve appearance—reduce potential harm from their use. The study will compare two groups: one will receive special support and information aimed at reducing risks associated with steroid use, while the other will get the usual advice currently available. The main goal is to see if the group with extra support ends up using less of the steroids than they originally planned. The study will also look at what influences people to change their minds about how much they use.

Anyone over the age of 15 who is planning to use steroids for at least four months to improve their looks or performance might be able to join. However, people using steroids for medical reasons, like hormone treatment for certain conditions, or for gender transition, won’t be eligible. If you take part, you’ll be randomly assigned to one of the two groups and followed to understand how the support affects your use and beliefs about steroids. This trial aims to find safer ways to help those who choose to use steroids, focusing on reducing harm while respecting personal choices.
