ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is comparing two different ways to remove medium-sized benign (non-cancerous) growths in the colon, called polyps, which are between 10 and 14 millimeters in size. One method uses a “cold” loop, which removes the polyp mechanically without using electric current, while the other uses a “hot” loop that applies heat through electric current to cut the polyp. The study aims to find out which method is safer and more effective, as the cold technique may reduce complications like bleeding and tissue damage and might also take less time.

Adults aged 18 and older who have a single benign colon polyp of the right size and type may be eligible to join. Before joining, patients will need to agree to undergo a colonoscopy (a procedure to look inside the colon) and removal of the polyp using one of the study methods. People with signs that the polyp might be cancerous, smaller polyps, recurring growths, certain bowel diseases, or other health issues may not qualify. Participants can expect to have their polyp removed during colonoscopy using either the cold or hot loop method, with doctors monitoring how well and safely the polyp is removed. This study is important because it could help doctors choose the best way to remove these growths with fewer risks and faster recovery.
