ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a special support program designed to help family members who care for a young person experiencing their first episode of psychosis—a serious mental health condition that affects how someone thinks, feels, and behaves. The program is coordinated by advanced practice nurses (APRN) and includes one-on-one and group education sessions aimed at reducing the stress and challenges that caregivers often face. By providing better support and information, the program hopes to ease the burden on families and help the person with psychosis recover more smoothly.
Family members may be eligible to join if they care for someone between 18 and 35 years old who has recently (within the last six months) started treatment for first episode psychosis. Caregivers need to understand French and have not already received similar educational support. Participants can expect to take part in consultations and educational activities led by specialized nurses, designed to meet their needs and provide guidance throughout the early stages of the illness. This program is important because family support plays a big role in recovery, but many caregivers currently don’t have access to the help they need.
