ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether using aromatherapy—smelling certain essential oils—can help improve problems with taste and smell that some cancer patients experience during chemotherapy. These changes can make eating less enjoyable and affect a person’s overall quality of life. The study is based on similar techniques used to help people who lost their sense of smell after COVID-19, aiming to “retrain” the nose and taste buds through regular smelling exercises.
The trial is open to adults aged 65 to 74 who are currently receiving chemotherapy and are experiencing changes in taste or smell. People who have finished chemotherapy are not eligible. If you join, you would be asked to regularly smell specific essential oils as part of the therapy, to see if this helps restore your taste and smell senses. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it could offer a new way to improve life during chemotherapy by addressing these common side effects.
