ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether artificial intelligence (AI) programs can help doctors understand blood clotting test results during certain surgeries. Specifically, it focuses on patients having planned heart or liver transplant operations. During these surgeries, a special blood test called ROTEM is done to check how well a patient’s blood is clotting. The study wants to see if AI tools, like ChatGPT and Gemini, can accurately read these test results and suggest the right treatment, just like expert doctors would.
Adults who are having elective (planned) heart surgery or liver transplants and have complete ROTEM test results could take part in this study. Participants will have their ROTEM test data reviewed by a group of three expert doctors and by the AI models independently. The researchers will then compare the AI’s recommendations with the experts’ decisions to see how well the AI performs. This study is not for emergency surgeries, children, or patients without consent. If you qualify and join, the main thing you’ll experience is that your routine blood clotting tests during surgery will be used anonymously to help test these AI tools, with no change to your usual care.
