Diabetic Foot Ulcer Photobiomodulation Low Level Laser Therapy

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a treatment called photobiomodulation, which uses a special type of low-level laser light at 830 nanometers, to help heal diabetic foot ulcers. These ulcers are wounds that can develop on the feet of people with diabetes and can be hard to heal. The study aims to see how well this laser treatment works at different intensities and whether it can improve healing time, reduce the chance of the ulcers coming back, and improve quality of life for patients.

People eligible to join the study are adults over 18 who have diabetes and currently have a diabetic foot ulcer. The trial will include both men and women but excludes those with infected ulcers, bone infections, certain blood flow problems, autoimmune diseases, or mental health conditions that might interfere with the treatment. Participants will be randomly assigned to different groups to receive either one of three levels of the 830 nm laser treatment or a control treatment using a different laser. The study will be double-blind, meaning neither the participants nor the evaluators will know who is receiving which treatment, to keep the results unbiased. This research will take place at a medical center and aims to better understand how this laser therapy might help people with diabetic foot ulcers heal more effectively.
