ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring a new way to collect fluid from the uterus during gynecologic surgery using a special catheter, which is a thin tube. The goal is to see if this method is practical and safe, and to learn more about the types of cells found in these fluid samples. This information could help doctors better understand gynecologic conditions and possibly improve future diagnosis and treatment.

People who may be able to join this study are adults 18 years or older who are having gynecologic surgery at Stanford Healthcare and have an intact uterus, cervix, at least one fallopian tube, and ovary on the same side. Participants should be able to give informed consent and speak English. The study does not include those with certain types of uterine or cervical cancer, those who have had specific surgeries like removal of both fallopian tubes, or those who are pregnant, currently menstruating, or have an intrauterine device (IUD) in place. If you join, the uterine fluid will be collected during your scheduled surgery using the new catheter, and you will be part of a group of up to 50 people helping researchers learn more about this technique. The study is not yet recruiting, so if you think you might be interested, keep an eye out for updates.
