ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at ways to help young children feel less scared and hurt when having blood drawn. It compares two different activities: playing with a hand puppet and looking at pictures or coloring books. The goal is to see which one better helps children stay calm and experience less pain during the blood collection.
Children between 3 and 6 years old who need to have blood taken just once may be able to join. To participate, children should have no problems with seeing, hearing, or speaking, be comfortable talking with others, and have a parent with them during the procedure. Children with long-term illnesses or who have recently taken certain medicines for pain or sedation won’t be included. If a child joins, they will be asked to either play with a hand puppet or use the picture and coloring books while the blood is taken, helping researchers understand which method works best to ease their fear and pain.
