ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how children aged 6 to 8 feel pain and anxiety during dental injections using two different types of syringes: an electronic syringe and a regular (conventional) syringe. The goal is to find out if the electronic syringe causes less pain and worry when numbing the mouth for dental treatment. Each child will receive both types of injections on different visits, so researchers can compare their experiences directly.
Children eligible to join are those who are healthy, visiting the dentist for the first time, and have deep cavities in specific baby teeth on both sides of their upper jaw. During the study, children will get local numbing injections on one side with the electronic syringe and on the other side with the regular syringe. The study team will also measure heart rate and collect saliva samples to check stress levels before and after each injection. To keep things fair, children will wear sunglasses so they don’t know which syringe is being used, and the person analyzing the results won’t know either. Parents will be asked to give permission, and the study takes care to keep children safe and their information private. This research could help make dental visits less scary and painful for kids in the future.
