ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well a special training program can help operating room nurses learn about the dangers of surgical smoke—the smoke created during certain surgical procedures using electric tools. The program aims to improve nurses’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors to better protect themselves from these hazards. Nurses who take part will be divided into two groups: one group will receive this new, detailed training, while the other group will get the usual training. Their understanding and protective actions will be checked before the training, one week after, and again four weeks later to see how well the program works.
To join the study, nurses need to have worked in an operating room for at least three months, be willing to participate and sign a consent form, and have access to a phone or computer with internet. Nurses who are still in training, part-time students, or on parental leave cannot join. Participants can expect to complete surveys about their knowledge and behaviors related to surgical smoke at three different times during the study. This research could help make sure nurses stay safer while working in operating rooms by improving education about surgical smoke hazards.
