ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at whether a simple exercise called the 1-minute sit-to-stand test (SST1) can help predict how well patients with heart failure will do after leaving the hospital. Heart failure is a condition where the heart doesn’t pump blood as well as it should, and it often leads to hospital stays, especially in older adults. In this study, researchers want to see if the number of times a patient can safely sit down and stand up from a chair in one minute, right before leaving the intensive care unit (ICU), is linked to important outcomes like returning to the hospital or survival within the next 90 days.

People who might take part are adults diagnosed with heart failure who are able to sit and stand without using their arms for help and who have some basic mobility when they leave the ICU. Participants won’t have serious memory or thinking problems, and they won’t be on advanced life-support machines. After being discharged, researchers will follow up by phone to check how the participants are doing. The goal is to find out if this simple test can give doctors and patients useful information about recovery and help guide care after hospital stays for heart failure.
