ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well two blood test measurements—the platelet-neutrophil ratio (PNR) and the platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR)—can predict early trauma-induced coagulopathy, a condition where the blood’s ability to clot is affected after an injury. The study focuses on patients who come to the emergency department within 6 hours of experiencing trauma. Researchers want to see if these simple blood tests can help doctors quickly identify patients at risk for this blood clotting problem during their hospital stay.
To be part of this study, patients must have had a trauma injury and arrived at the emergency department within 6 hours of the event, with their doctor ordering a blood clotting test. People who received treatment like fluids or blood products elsewhere, or who suffered certain types of injuries like drowning, hanging, or burns, won’t be eligible. Also, patients on medications or with medical conditions affecting blood clotting won’t be included. If eligible, participants will have their blood tested as part of routine care, and the study will observe these results to learn more, without changing the treatment they receive. This research may help improve how doctors detect and manage blood clotting problems early after trauma.
