ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying new ways to help dentists find cavities (also called dental caries) more easily and accurately. Cavities happen when the surface of your teeth breaks down, which can cause pain if not treated. Dentists usually check for cavities by looking at your teeth, feeling them with tools, and sometimes using x-rays or pictures. This study is testing a new technology that uses special cameras called intraoral scanners, which take detailed pictures inside your mouth without any pain or radiation. The goal is to gather information that will help create a computer program using artificial intelligence (AI) to assist dentists in spotting cavities faster and more accurately.

If you are 18 years or older, have at least 15 natural teeth, and have at least one cavity that has formed a noticeable hole (called a cavitated lesion), you might be able to join this study. You should be generally healthy and seeking dental treatment. People with braces, permanent retainers, or certain health conditions, as well as pregnant women, cannot participate. If you join, you will be asked to agree to the study, and the dentist will use the new scanner and other usual methods to examine your teeth. This research is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve how dentists detect cavities, which could make dental visits easier and improve dental care in the future.
